What to Do After a Car Accident in Florida
A car accident can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to handle it alone. Our experts outline the key actions to take immediately so your health, safety, and legal interests are fully protected.
Prioritize Safety & Call 911
Move to a safe location if possible. Call 911 to report the crash and request medical assistance. A police report can become crucial evidence.
Get a Medical Evaluation
Even when injuries seem minor, adrenaline can hide serious problems. Seeing a doctor right away documents injuries and supports a future claim.
Document Everything at the Scener
Take photos and videos of the vehicles, visible injuries, road conditions, and traffic signs. Collect names and contact information for witnesses.
Be Careful What You Say
Avoid admitting fault or giving a recorded statement to the other driver’s insurance company before speaking to an attorney. Adjusters work to minimize claims.

01. Your Free, No-Obligation Case Review
It starts with a real conversation, not a sales pitch. Just clear guidance about your options.

Just clear guidance about your options.
02. The Firm Takes Over the Heavy Lifting
If you decide to move forward, the firm gets to work so you don’t have to chase paperwork or argue with adjusters.
Camacho Injury Law will:
- Investigate the crash and gather evidence
- Request and review medical records
- Communicate with the insurance companies
- Track deadlines and handle the legal details
Clients are kept in the loop, but they aren’t expected to manage the process alone.
03. You Focus on Healing While We Build Your Case
While you go to doctor’s appointments, follow treatment plans, and try to get back to normal life, Attorney Camacho focuses on building the strongest possible case for you.
She evaluates the full impact of the crash—medical bills, time off work, pain, and how your day-to-day life has changed—and uses that information to pursue a fair settlement. If the insurance company refuses to be reasonable, she is ready to take the case to court.
04.You Pay Nothing Up Front
Camacho Injury Law works on a contingency fee basis. That means:
- No upfront retainers
- No hourly invoices arriving in the mail
- The firm only collects attorney’s fees if money is recovered for you
If there’s no recovery, you don’t owe attorney’s fees. It’s that simple.

Car Accident Questions? We Have Answers.
How long do I have to file a car accident claim in Florida?
In Florida, the statute of limitations for most personal injury claims is generally two years from the date of the accident. Because deadlines can change and evidence can disappear quickly, it is important to speak with an attorney as soon as possible.
Do I have a case if I’m partially at fault?
Often, yes. Florida follows a modified comparative fault rule. An injured person may still recover damages if their share of fault is 50% or less, but any award is reduced by that percentage. If someone is found more than 50% responsible, they cannot recover damages. We can evaluate how this rule may apply.
Do I have to go to court?
Most personal injury claims settle without a trial. However, if the insurance company refuses to offer a fair amount, Attorney Camacho is an experienced trial lawyer who is fully prepared to present the case to a jury.
How much does a personal injury lawyer cost?
Our firm works on a contingency fee basis. There are no upfront costs or hourly fees. The firm receives a percentage of the recovery, and if there is no recovery, clients owe no attorney’s fees.
What is PIP and how does it work?
Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is mandatory in Florida and can provide up to $10,000 in coverage for medical bills and lost wages, regardless of who was at fault. To preserve PIP benefits, injury victims must seek medical treatment within 14 days of the accident.
What if the other driver was uninsured?
If the at-fault driver has no insurance or not enough coverage, an injured person may be able to make a claim under their own Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) coverage. We can review the policy and explain available options.
